I have always believed, and I still believe, that whatever good or bad fortune may come our way we can always give it meaning and transform it into something of value. — Hermann Hesse, Siddhartha
My life has been full of both good and bad fortune, and I think that I’ve always tried to move forward thinking about what’s next. How can I move ahead? How can I realize my next dream? Ventura Sailing is me doing just that: moving into what’s next. There’s no hurry. The timeline is in years, not days, and hopefully not decades.
I’ve always had a desire to be near the water and of being a sailor, but when you grow up with no one in your life to learn that from, it takes some time to figure out how to pursue such a passion — at least it did for me. I’ve also always wanted to be a writer, to tell and share stories, and to hopefully inspire others to pursue their passions. I actually studied writing, but a family, the need to make money, a career, a business or two later and maybe a fear that I couldn’t do it well, always kept it in the background.
Thankfully we live in a wonderful world of the internet and with nothing more than desire, an internet connection, and effort, I can become my own publisher. I can put things out into the world and give it a try.
My inspiration comes from the many sailing vlogs that I’ve watched over the years that have truly inspired me, shared knowledge with me and taught me to pursue these passions.
Here’s to the start. 8/1/2020.
